1980 kommt der LAMY Safari auf den Markt, ein Ergebnis umfangreicher jugendpsychologischer Forschung und in Zusammenarbeit mit der Entwicklungsgruppe Mannheim unter der Leitung von Prof. Bernt Spiegel und dem Designer Wolfgang Fabian, der Teil des Teams ist. Die Einführung in den matten Farben Terrarot und Savannagrün war zu Beginn kein Erfolg, erst mit der Einführung der Farbe Weiß nahm die Erfolgsgeschichte ihren Lauf. Seit dem konsequent und mit viel Leidenschaft weiter entwickelt, mit internationalen Designpreisen ausgezeichnet, zum Marktführer in seiner Kategorie geworden und heute die Ikone des Familienunternehmens LAMY.
